Workshop Communication in ropes

Communication between rigger and their partner is one of the most important components of tying. You can be a great rigger, know a lot of ties or even styles, but if the tying doesn't have content, if you don't put yourself into it, on both sides of the rope, your tying will be a just an imitation or even a bad copy of someone else, because often we just blindly copy what we learn at workshops or even more often from photos.

At the workshop we will cover in hands-on exercises techniques such as body manipulation, body language, pace, distance, timing, presence and even rituals. We will also explore how working with rope and suspension ropes affects not only the tied persons, but also the riggers themselves. We will learn that each rope tells its own story. An important part of the workshop will be working with intention or mood and building the session. In all this we will be looking at what we want our ropes to say, and what it says to us. In other words who we are when we tie, and where we want to get.

Pre-requisites

This is not a beginners workshop. Both riggers and models should have experience with basic suspensions and have a solid foundation on the floor. You should master basic floor ties, especially single and double column ties, with an understanding of square and granny knots, lacing and any form of Gote (Takate Kote).

Bring with you

Participants need to bring at least 8 ropes.
